Carrie Underwood's Royal Reign

The multi-platinum selling artist and multiple GRAMMY Award winner joined her local church choir, taught herself to play guitar and began writing songs shortly thereafter. When Underwood was just 14, a fan arranged for her to visit Capitol Records in Nashville. It seemed that she would get her big break when Capitol planned on signing her to a recording contract; however, during that time, the company's management changed, and the deal was tabled. Underwood said of the event, "I honestly think it's a lot better that nothing came out of it now, because I wouldn't have been ready then. Everything has a way of working out."
