Haim Time

The sisters of Haim took a few years between albums—but now they’re back and better than ever.

Part of why Este, Danielle, and Alana Haim are so good at making music together is because they’ve been doing it their entire lives. From a young age, their parents shared with them classic pop and rock from the mid-20th century, a sound that’s made its way into the band’s music. One key influence on the group has been Stevie Nicks, vocalist and songwriter of the ’70s rock band Fleetwood Mac, whose 1976 album Rumors is the seventh all-time best-selling album in the US. Many critics have recognized the Fleetwood Mac sound as an influence on Haim’s music, including Nicks herself, who has become a mentor to the band.
