2018 continues the streak of a timeless theme: musicals about music. In this feature we give a brief overview of the art form.
From A Chorus Line in 1975 to 2018’s The Band’s Visit, musical theater has continuously expanded on a niche that has seen unmatched success. For decades, writers have taken the life stories of celebrity singers, instrumentalists and bands, and brought them to the Broadway stage. They have also created non-musical plotlines and set them to hit songs from specific decades or the albums of artists we all know and love. This art form has been around for ages, and it appears that it won’t be slowing down any time soon.
